We focus a lot on objectives. What outcomes do we hope to achieve with our instruction? Often we plan a lesson with specific objectives as our end goals, but we also should plan for the possible stumbling blocks along the way. In ADDIE, this would hopefully happen in the analysis phase. If my goal is to teach you how to use Outlook to create a meeting, I will be better able to instruct you in the steps if I think through what could possibly go wrong along the way. I would need to process what you already know and factor in the typical pitfalls that might occur with learners having the same skill set. Creating training with the top 3-5 pitfalls in mind will help develop clearer instruction.
